Jawakhar, scientifically known as Potassium Carbonate and globally recognized as Potash or Salt of Tartar, is a traditional mineral-based compound used extensively in Unani and Ayurvedic medicine. Traditionally, it is obtained by burning the stalks of the Barley plant (Hordeum vulgare) and processing the ash to extract the pure white crystalline salts. In the Unani system, Jawakhar is classified as having a "Hot and Dry" (Garm-o-Khushk) temperament. It is celebrated for its extraordinary ability to neutralize systemic acidity and act as a powerful deobstruent (Mufattih).
