Jalvitri / Javitri (Mace / Nutmeg Aril)

Jalvitri (commonly known as Javitri or Mace), botanically designated as Myristica fragrans of the Myristicaceae family, is the delicate, lacy, golden-orange to crimson arillode (net-like outer covering) that envelops the hard shell of the nutmeg kernel (Jaiphal). In Unani and Greco-Arabic medicine, Jalvitri holds an esteemed rank as a noble aromatic stimulant and exhilarant (Mufarreh), classified as having a Hot and Dry (Garm-o-Khushk, 2nd to 3rd degree) temperament.
