Inderjao Talkh, botanically known as Holarrhena antidysenterica and globally recognized as Kurchi or Tellicherry Bark seeds, is a deciduous shrub native to the tropical Himalayas and the Indian subcontinent. In the Unani and Greco-Arabic systems of medicine, the seeds are classified into two varieties: Shireen (Sweet) and Talkh (Bitter). Inderjao Talkh is the bitter variety, highly prized for its potent alkaloid, Conessine. Classified as having a "Cold and Dry" (Barid-o-Yabis) temperament in the second degree, it is the premier remedy for severe gastrointestinal infections and chronic inflammatory humors.
