About the Product
Gond Chahar, predominantly known in classical therapeutics as Gond Katira (Gum Tragacanth), is a natural dried gummy exudate obtained from the taproots and stems of thorny wild shrubs belonging to the genus Astragalus (chiefly Astragalus gummifer and related species) of the Fabaceae family. In Unani and Greco-Arabic medicine, Gond Katira holds an eminent status among the soothing, demulcent agents and is classified as having a Cold and Dry (Barid-o-Yabis, 1st degree; often noted as cold and moist when soaked due to its immense water-holding gel). Renowned for its extraordinary swelling index and neutral binding virtue, it serves as the ultimate botanical for pacifying morbid bilious and blood heat (Hararat-e-Safra-o-Dam), neutralizing internal dryness (Yubusat), buffering the harshness of sharp medications, and restoring optimal viscosity to depleted vital fluids.
