Shora Qalmi (Potassium Nitrate / Petre Salt)

Shora Qalmi, scientifically known as Potassium Nitrate and globally recognized as Saltpeter or Petre Salt, is a naturally occurring mineral compound found in mineral deposits and certain organic matter. In Unani and Greco-Arabic medicine, it is highly valued for its intense "Cold and Dry" (Barid-o-Yabis) temperament. It appears as translucent, needle-like white crystals (hence the name "Qalmi," meaning pen-like or crystalline). Historically, it has been used as a primary agent to neutralize systemic heat and as a powerful diuretic to cleanse the urinary tract.
