Tukhm-e-Balan-goo, botanically known as Ocimum basilicum (or often associated with Lallemantia royleana in traditional texts), is a prized medicinal seed in Unani and Greco-Arabic medicine. These tiny, jet-black seeds are famous for their rapid expansion in water, forming a thick, protective mucilaginous layer. In the Unani system, Tukhm-e-Balan-goo is classified as having a "Cold and Moist" (Barid-o-Ratab) temperament. It is celebrated as a high-grade Mofarreh (Exhilarant) that specifically targets the heart and brain to remove restlessness and internal heat.
