Unani Treatment For Acne Vulgaris (Busoor-e-Labaniya)

According to the Unani Tibb, the leading cause of acne vulgaris (Busoor-e- Labaniya) is the hyperactivity of sebaceous glands (Ghudud-e- Dohniya), which for the most part results in increased production of oily material. This oily material gets blocked into the openings of these glands causing inflammation of these glands that get suppurated and packed with pus.

The yellow pus (Mada-e- Sadidiya) reaches to the skin due to increased abnormal heat (ifraat-e- hararat ) and does not get resolved easily from the pores. In other words, the yellow pus (Mada-e- Sadidiya) originates due to the bukharat-e- badan and later gets shifted towards the skin.

Mada-e-Sadidiya is transformed from the body vapors (bukharat-e- badan) and generally accumulated in the skin.  Due to the effect of air and thick materials, Mada-e-Sadidiya gets converted into a viscous fluid, and hence the pores get blocked.

Wet cupping therapy is used to excrete the yellow pus-like matter and also impure blood from the skin pores.
